Course Description:
This workshop is designed for manual therapists to deepen their understanding of fascia and refine their therapeutic engagement with it. Fascia, as a biotensegral system, contains cells, fluids, and fibers that are highly responsive to tactile input. When therapists align their touch and treatment strategies with the sensory demands and properties of fascia, clinical outcomes can improve. Participants will learn to assess and treat fascial barriers within a biotensegral-informed approach all while considering the impact on the autonomic nervous system.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will gain an understanding of Fascia at a histological level including its mechanical and neurological properties
Participants’ palpation skills we be refined to align with the sensory demands of Fascial tissue
Participants will identify Fascial barriers through biotensegrity-informed assessment techniques applied to the superficial skin and Fascia
Participants will understand Fascia’s role as an interface to interoceptive regulation
Participants will treat Fascial barriers with techniques that are responsive to the behaviour and properties of Fascia
